UX Designer

In my journey to become a Designer, I enjoy trying my hand at a bit of everything. I love working with people, asking questions to understand them more deeply, and using what I learn to make designs that work better for them. Right now, I am interested in learning more about motion design, animation, and 3D modeling, to incorporate into my website designs.

I knew I wanted to create something that made an impact on the world. I was intrigued by the Industrial design program at OCAD University, recognizing design's power to impact so many people. What excites me most is that design is everywhere, often unnoticed, but when done thoughtfully it can remove friction, create joy, and make life more accessible.

Many peoples favourite design book is The Design of Everyday Things and for good reason. It highlights how even the smallest design details can impact our lives. Reading this I connected deeply with this concept and saw an opportunity to help shape the world for the better. That perspective guided me through my studies and continues to inspire the way I approach my work today.

In my spare time I enjoy seeing theatre with my partner. I like rock climbing, running and making coffee more complicated than it needs to be. More than almost anything, I love drawing, which is what led me to create many paintings, drawings, product designs and now I have started working on a graphic novel.

From a young age, I've always had a sketchbook in hand. I heard someone say once; everyone thinks they know what a bird looks like until they have to draw one. Next thing you know, you're googling 'bird'. Drawing taught me to pay attention to details that can be easily overlooked. If I really want to understand something I feel I have to draw it. The throughline to everything I do is a curiosity to understand the world around me and make a positive impact.

Storytelling

I love listening to stories about people's lives, and I believe this made me good at empathizing with people. This has been an asset in every project I’ve worked on; as a barista, manager and in user experience design.

My creative interests are endless from drawings and paintings, to latte art and furniture design. I worked in theatre, experimented with coding for visual effects and made 3D printable designs. I am always learning some new creative skill. I believe this makes my perspective unique, allowing me to see opportunity spaces and connect dots others miss to generate new ideas.
